The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006 was enacted by the federal government to build and expand career and technical education programs. 

Many educational institutions rely on Perkins funding to support their CTE programs and goals. Just as CTEIG has minimum requirements, Perkins funding has its own minimums, along with other state requirements for CTE programs to ensure a successful experience for the student.
